Metro Adelaide now includes services provided by trams, buses and trains. View the Metro website to see inclusions.
The only tram route is the Glenelg tram, a 15-kilometre (9.3 mi) route from Hindmarsh, through the centre of Adelaide, to the beachside suburb of Glenelg. Trams run at approximately 15 minute intervals at off-peak times, and as often as every five minutes during peak hour periods.
Buses run frequently throughout the city. To view more information view the South Australian Government website on public transport options.
Metrocard Visitor Pass
The Metrocard Visitor Pass is available to tourists and provides unlimited travel on all Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams for three consecutive days from the day the Metrocard is first used.
The pass costs $25 and includes maps with information on using Adelaide’s public transport system, how to travel to some of the most popular attractions, and places to visit in the Adelaide metropolitan area. At the end of the three days the Metrocard Visitor Pass can be recharged and used as a standard Metrocard.
The Metrocard Visitor Pass is available from Adelaide Metro Information Centres and participating outlets. Visit the Adelaide Metro website for more details.
metroCARD is an electronic smart card and is the best option for frequent public transport users. It is safe and convenient, offering handy features such as:
- Protection of your card in case it is lost or stolen
- Auto-recharge option so you never run out of credit
- Your metroCARD will automatically calculate the best fare when you travel peak or off-peak.
Metroticket is a paper ticket and is a good option for infrequent public transport users or those who don’t need a metroCARD.
- Singletrip tickets are valid for 2 hours
- Daytrip tickets are valid until 4am the next morning.
- Passengers are required to have exact change (or close to) to purchase Metrotickets on board.

They can also organise taxis with wheelchair access, five-seaters and maxi taxis for larger groups or station wagons for large amounts of baggage. Please note that there is a $3 levy added to fares for taxis leaving the airport.
